FOCUS Wales announce Korean Indie artists
FOCUS Wales have announced four Korean Indie artists set to play the showcase festival in May. Alongside announcing over 60 artists comes the news that DTSQ and Billy Carter will return to the UK this spring.
Billy Carter is a Blues band based in Seoul, South Korea. They released their first EP “The Red,” in June 201 which was nominated for three 2015 Korean Music Awards: Rookie of the Year, Best Rock Music of the Year, and Best Rock Album of the Year. The band’s second EP “The Yellow” was an acoustic record full of musical sensibility. The songs added a degree of completion to the earlier identity of Billy Carter. These two drastically different EPs show the multifaceted potential of Billy Carter; they show the band’s rough and raw emotion with deep but fragile sensitivity. The group’s recent release of their debut full-length album “Here I Am” shows that the band continue to grow both regarding their musical ability and the depth of their introspection.
DTSQ is a strong cocktail with heavy shots of various genres such as blues, punk, electronic, psychedelic, jazz and pop. Formed in 2013 in Seoul, South Korea. DTSQ has played 150 of gigs of all sizes. In 2016 they toured around Europe playing three huge festivals and any venue that would have them along the way. DTSQ has released three singles, one EP and one album so far.
In The Endless Zanhyang We Are
After receiving an award for excellence at the 2015 KT&G Band Discovery, Ahn Dayoung, who’d previously released a single and EP in 2014, met Sunghoon Park, Haram Lee and Gunseok Lee to form In The Endless Zanhyang We Are. The group quickly attracted the attention of the public and critics alike and after performing at 2016 Rainbow Island Festival they received further awards from K-Rookies and the ‘Hello Rookie of the Year’ competitions in 2016. In January 2017, they released their first full-length album [Inevitability Under Consecutive Coincidence]. In October 2017 the band released a new single, Nightglow Sea, which demonstrated a fresh approach to their work and foreshadowed the broadening of their musical spectrum. In The Endless Zanhyang We Are thinks of their music as a ‘slow dance.’ It incorporates dreamlike sounds and vocals to create a moodscape teeming sounds that capture your senses. Within such a strong emotional musical atmosphere, In The Endless Zanhyang We Are creates a burst of flame that shoots through their sweeping, cascading sounds.

National Pigeon Unity is an alt-rock duo from Seoul in South Korea, and come brimming with energy and attitude. Formed in 2007, the band have since played over 1000 shows to date, making this one live show not to be missed at the festival.
