Indie electro-pop songstress NeonBunny is heading to Europe! The independent music star (real name Yu Jin) may well be best known for securing herself the Best Pop Album trophy from under the nose of expected recipient IU at the 2012 Korean Music Awards.
Of her win she said:
“I was so surprised! I was glad to be recognised though. The indie scene in Korea is really small, so it’s hard to survive here.”
But don’t be fooled, NeonBunny’s music is not at all something you’d expect to hear from the likes of IU, or any of Korea’s popular female artists.
Her lyrics are filled with sass and realism, even when romance and love are the topics in question the chances of a happy ending are slim – there’s certainly no sign of Kpop’s rose tinted glasses here.
In her musical resume Neon Bunny also has a stint as a session keyboard player for The Black Skirts; a group now signed to Tablo’s YG subsidiary HIGHGRND.
This will be NeonBunny’s first time performing in Europe, and she was excited to announce the shows from her home studio in Seoul.
Thanks to Polish promotors +Social, NeonBunny will play two shows in Poland; in Warsaw and Poznan.
