Liverpool Sound City teams up with Hongdae’s Zandari Festa
Liverpool Sound City are set to team up with South Korea’s Zandari Festa to expand the international reach of both festivals.
Each year Liverpool Sound City plays host to a Korea Rocks showcase, and their new venture will allow Zandari Festa to play host to a showcase for British bands. The two festivals have strong links already, but this is set to strengthen their partnership.
The International Showcasing Scheme, funded by the Arts Council England, has awarded Sound City a grant allowing them to work with Zandari, develop their international business links as well as funding artists from England to take part in the Seoul festival.
Like Sound City, Zandari Festa is considered the most important event of its kind in its home country. Similar to the original format of Sound City, Zandari is a two day live music and digital business conference taking place in locations across the Hongdae district of Seoul.
Here’s what both festivals had to say about their new partnership:
“South Korea is a very exciting emerging music market. We have worked with Yoon and Zandari for several years. This kind of initiative will now allow us to put together a firm partner deal that will allow us to expand our international reach as a brand as well as for all the artists and businesses we work with. This takes us to the next logical step in our business growth“.
– Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi
“This is a very exciting partnership with Sound City. It allows us to build a wider international audience for our festival and conference. We have worked with Sound City for the past three years sending artists to their world-class event in Liverpool. It is fantastic that we are now able to work on both sides in a wider and more strategic manner“.
– Zandari Festa director Yoon-Young Kong
Given our love of the Korea Rocks showcase put on by Sound City each year, we’re excited to see what this new partnership brings.
