Each year Cannes’ international music event Midem includes a series of musical showcases by artists around the world.
The Kpop Night Out event, organised by the Korean Creative Contents Agency (KOCCA), presents a night of Kpop music from four acts. On Friday June 3rd the Grand Salon at Carlton Hotel will play host to Ego Function Error, Guckkasten, Eluphant and Idiotape.
Here’s the low down on the Korean acts playing at this years Midem festival:
Ego Function Error
Formed in 2013 EgoFunctionError are a four-piece psychedelic girl punk band. Their energetic performances around the Seoul indie scene have gained them an impressive following. This month marks the release of their first ep, the cleverly named EP EP Shake.
A four member psychedelic rock group, Guckkasten debuted in 2007 and are one of the most recognised alternate artists in South Korea. With plenty of awards under their belt, and an impressive list of appearances you can’t help but pay attention to this group.

Formed of leader Dguru a former DJ, songwriter Zeze playing synthesizers, and drummer DR, IDIOTAPE combine dance beats, electro punk ruffs, and rock and roll drums to produce electronica unique to their unit.
